Don’t be alarmed if you hear an emergency alert on your smartphone or local radio stations this afternoon. Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure's Emergency Measures Organization will conduct a test of the Alert Ready system, part of the National Public Alerting System.

The test is scheduled to be broadcast at 1:55 p.m. and will be heard on multiple platforms, including CFRYMIX 96.5 FM, and COUNTRY 93.1 FM, as well as on compatible wireless devices.

The province emphasizes that regular testing is a vital part of maintaining a reliable public alerting system. These tests help assess the performance of the system across all communication channels—radio, TV, and mobile devices—and ensure everything works as expected during real emergencies. They also help familiarize the public with what an actual emergency alert would look and sound like.

Please note that not all Manitobans will receive the alert on their phones. Reasons may include device compatibility, lack of LTE connection, cell tower coverage, or device settings and software issues.
