The Alberta test was one of several expected across Canada, although Quebec opted out. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission requires at least one test alert per year, either during Emergency Preparedness Week or in November.
As of 9 a.m., Alberta Emergency Alert had not issued its own cancellation notice regarding the test, but multiple active wildfire alerts remained in effect across the province.
These included critical evacuation orders for parts of Thorhild County and Athabasca County, where wildfires were threatening homes near Boyle and along multiple rural roads. Advisories also remained active in Sturgeon County, Parkland County, and Westlock County, where residents were told to prepare to evacuate on short notice.
