Dorothy Loraine (née Ackerman) Crone
July 28, 1937 - May 4, 2025
Dorothy Crone was born on July 28, 1937, to Valentine and Natalie (née Reinhardt) Ackerman in Chamberlain, Saskatchewan. In her youth, Dorothy received her education at Ellsridgehill and Clarendon schools near her home. In 1956, at the age 18 she moved to Moose Jaw, SK, to work as a nurse’s aid at the Providence Hospital. During that time, she lived with Josephine and Eleanor Crone which led to her meeting the love of her life, John Crone.
Dorothy and John were married on April 24, 1957, on John’s birthday. They settled in Moose Jaw raising their five children. In the summer of 1974, the family decided to move to Annaheim, SK, to pursue their life-long passion of farming. Dorothy worked tirelessly in pursuit of a prosperous farm and a thriving family. Later in life, Dorothy worked alongside John as caretakers at Annahiem School. In 2002 both retired, moving to Rose Valley, SK, where they lived for the next thirteen years. Dorothy and John loved to drive, which led them to adventures exploring places all over Western Canada with John at the wheel and Dorothy navigating. Dorothy and John’s next move was to Muenster, SK, for a short while before finally settling in Humboldt. After John’s passing in 2019, Dorothy continued to reside at the Harry Ford Centre where she enjoyed their Bingo nights and many social gatherings.
