Due to high demand, Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) is offering condensed summer courses for its Driver Z program.

Rather than the regular 12 week long course, it has been designed to be done in five weeks in July and August 2025.

It says the lessons will consist of two weeks of virtual courses, and three weeks of in-car lessons.

No classes can be be missed, and there will be no exceptions, the crown corporation says.

During July, the condensed courses will be offered in select Manitoba communities including Steinbach, Winkler, and Portage La Prairie.

In August, a different set of locations has been selected, but still include Steinbach and Winkler.

Registration for the courses will begin on May 28 at 8 a.m., with a listing of all available courses to be published on MPI's website on May 23.

"To register, students should visit an Autopac agent or MPI Service Centre in advance to get set up as a customer and purchase the Driver Z service," MPI says.

"Completing these steps ahead of time will allow you to easily and quickly register by phone, at an Autopac agent, or MPI Service Centre when courses become available."
