Bernice Neumiiller (McCorriston) Obituary

1933 ~ 2025 (age 91)

In Loving Memory of Bernice Lavern Neumiiller (McCorriston) August 29, 1933 – March 26, 2025.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Bernice (née Scott) Neumiiller (McCorriston), who passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on March 26, 2025, at her residence in Kindersley Heritage Manor. Bernice was born on August 29, 1933, in Watrous, SK to Mary (Mighton) and Arnold Scott. She lived a life full of grace, resilience, and deep love for her family. She was one of eleven children and is fondly remembered as a devoted sister. She is survived by her sisters Loretta and Margaret (Don) and sister-in-law Nell. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters Viola, Ruth, Ruby, Violet, Dorothy, Vivian, and Vera, as well as her brother Eugene. Bernice held each of them close to her heart and carried their memories with her always.

In 1957, Bernice married Leslie McCorriston. Together they farmed and raised 4 children in the Gardenia and Quill Lake district. She is survived by 3 of their children: Cindy McCorriston-Brandle (Richard and stepsons Jordan & Jared) of Kindersley; Colin McCorriston (Holly) of Warman; Glenda Turner of Saskatoon. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Leslie in 1980 and their eldest son, Richard McCorriston in 1985.

Bernice married Harold Neumiiller in 1985, and they made their home in the Kindersley area. In their later years, Harold and Bernice resided together at the Caleb Village. With Bernice’s warm personality and natural social grace, she always made newcomers feel accepted. She built several friendships there and was always ready to lend a hand, whether offering a ride to town or simply providing companionship. Bernice accepted Harold’s family as her own, offering them the same warmth, loyalty, and kindness she showed everyone in her life. She enjoyed her recent visit with his granddaughter, Becky. Bernice was predeceased by Harold on March 26, 2019.

Besides farming, Bernice also worked as a waitress, caregiver and gardener. She had a lively spirit and loved dancing, singing, bowling, winning at bingo and casino getaways with friends and family. She especially enjoyed playing cards and games with her grandchildren, creating fun, lasting memories for them. She had a sense of humour, and they loved her amusing comments. Bernice found pleasure in baking, and she truly enjoyed preparing meals and entertaining. She also loved to travel, especially to visit family and friends on the trips to ON, AB, BC and the states.

She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Through her daughter ,Cindy, she is lovingly remembered by her grandsons Shaun and Derrek Leipert of Alberta. Great-grandchildren through Shaun (Jeannette) are Damon, Lucas, Phillipp, Jenaya, and Noah. Through Derrek (Elva and stepdaughter Kalley), she is remembered by Kostyn. Through her late son, Richard, she is remembered by her grandson Joseph West (Sarah) of Regina, SK and great-grandchildren Quinlan and Emerson. Through her son, Colin, she is remembered by her McCorriston grandchildren DamianChanning (Jenna), Sasha, and Shaelyn (Brian and stepdaughter Audrina), all residing in the Saskatoon area. Her great-grandchildren through Channing are: Miley, Reese, and Ace; through Sasha: Adelaide and Amari; and through Shaelyn: Autumn. Through her daughter, Glenda, she is lovingly remembered by granddaughters Megan (Peyton) and Mikala Turner, both of Edmonton.

Her warm heart, quiet strength, and thoughtful nature touched everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
