The Manitoba Stampede and Exhibition is still two months away, coming up July 18th to 20th, but Morris Mayor Scott Crick is encouraging us to get our rodeo tickets now to avoid disappointment that weekend.
"With the fantastic weather we've had over the last few years, and people wanting to spend more of their time in Manitoba, the Stampede has certainly increased in popularity," he shared during In the Mayor's Chair. "I believe, for the last two years, both the Saturday and Sunday shows sold out. So, certainly recommending, if it is something you're considering adding to your travel itinerary this summer, go to manitobastampede.ca. You can buy your tickets already. We've had such a great reception the last couple of years, and we're anticipating it may be even stronger this year."
Reinforcing water conservation message
With the record breaking heat this week, coupled with the extended period of dry weather so far this Spring, Crick is encouraging residents to be mindful of water use. His comments come on the heels of the town sharing a peak water use message with the community.
"Certainly there's encouragement for early season things where people would normally like to use a bit more water, such as spring washing down the siding, doing planting, even filling pools, just to do so in a responsible manner, and ensure we're not putting too much strain on the water system," he said. "Although we are anticipating some rains later this week, as we know, sometimes when we do get into a bit of these dry cycles, it can stick for a little bit. So again, starting to practice good water conservation is a good thing for us to do as a community all the time, but even better right now while we're a bit dry."
