Environment Canada has cancelled the rainfall warning for Airdrie and surrounding areas that was issued on Sunday, with the updated forecast suggesting residents shouldn’t expect a stretch of hot, dry weather heading into the Victoria Day long weekend.
Conditions today remain unsettled. The skies are mainly cloudy, with a 30 per cent chance of afternoon showers and a risk of thunderstorms. The daytime high is expected to reach 15°C, with a UV index rated at 6, considered high. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a continued 30 per cent chance of showers early in the evening, again with the risk of a thunderstorm, before clearing overnight. The low is forecast at 0°C.
Wednesday will start off sunny, with clouds building by early afternoon and a 60 per cent chance of showers later in the day. Thunderstorm activity is also possible. The high is expected to be 16°C. Rain is expected overnight, with temperatures dropping to a low of 4°C.
Thursday is forecast to clear out, but it will remain cool, with a daytime high of just 13°C and an overnight low dipping to minus 1°C. Friday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a high near 14°C, and overnight lows hovering around 1°C.
The start of the long weekend on Saturday is expected to see similar conditions, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 15°C. Showers may return that evening, with a 60 per cent chance of rain and a low of 4°C. Sunday remains unsettled, with continued cloud cover and a 60 per cent chance of showers throughout the day and into the night. Highs will remain around 14°C.
Victoria Day Monday may bring a return to partly sunny skies, with the forecast calling for a mix of sun and cloud and a daytime high of 16°C.
Airdrie continues to remain under a fire advisory. On Tuesday afternoon, Rocky View County, downgraded its fire ban to a fire advisory.
