With the Canada Carbon Rebate now officially over, eligible Airdrie families are set to receive two child benefit payments before the end of May, according to the Canada Revenue Agency.
The federal Canada child benefit (CCB) is scheduled for May 20. The Alberta child and family benefit (ACFB), which is provincially funded and administered through the CRA, will follow on May 27.
Both are tax-free benefits aimed at supporting families with children under 18. While the CCB is issued monthly, the ACFB is delivered quarterly, with future installments expected in August, November and February.
Under the ACFB for the 2025–26 benefit year, families may receive $1,499 annually for the first child and $749 for each of the second, third and fourth children.
The base benefit is reduced when adjusted family net income exceeds $27,565, and is eliminated entirely above $46,191.
A separate working income component is available to families earning more than $2,760. This includes $767 for the first child, $698 for the second, $418 for the third, and $138 for the fourth. These amounts are also reduced above the $46,191 income threshold.
The final Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR) payments began issuing on April 22. The program has now ended following a federal decision to remove the fuel charge from the carbon pollution pricing system.
"To receive the payment starting April 22, 2025, individuals must have filed their 2024 income tax and benefit return electronically no later than April 2," the CRA stated. Those who filed after that date will receive their rebate once their return is assessed.
The federal government announced the termination of the CCR on March 15.
The CRA has also posted a notice regarding potential job action at Canada Post. "This page will be updated to share any impact to benefit and credit payments," the agency said. It is encouraging individuals to register for direct deposit to avoid possible mail delays.
