The Souris Valley Museum is preparing for a busy and exciting summer — and bidding farewell to a visiting attraction.
The ACE Academy flight simulator, which has been available to the public in recent months, will be departing this Friday.
Museum director Melanie Memory said they’re also getting ready for their always-popular summer camps, though some have already reached capacity.
“We have some that are sold out, but you can get on the wait list because people’s plans change,” said Memory. “So there’s definitely room if you’re thinking about signing up. I’d recommend calling or checking the website.”
Heritage Fun Day is also set to return on June 21, offering a full lineup of family-friendly activities.
“Hopefully, there’s something that will appeal to everybody,” Memory said. “It’s a family event, it’s a free event — we have a lot going on that day.”
The local Métis Nation group will provide lunch, serving a hamburger soup with bannock. They’ll also be leading a beading activity to showcase Métis heritage.
Other planned activities include a petting zoo, face painting, wagon rides, museum tours, scavenger hunts and heritage games. The Estevan Art Gallery will also be on site to lead crafts for children.
