The Weyburn Canoe & Kayak Club is at a crossroads as they are down to two board members, now facing the risk of scaling back programs or even shutting down altogether.

The organization, which also rents kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards at Nickle Lake, is committed to running fun, engaging kids’ camps, growing membership, and expanding programs.

In a press release, they stated, "We're looking for passionate, community-minded individuals ready to lend their time, energy, and expertise to help keep the club strong and growing."

Joining the WCKC board would mean making a real impact by helping shape the future of the club and our community; working alongside others who are passionate about paddling, recreation, and Weyburn; and experiencing the rewards of revitalizing a community organization and seeing the results firsthand.

The club welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, especially those with strategic thinking and a long-term vision for the club; a collaborative spirit and positive attitude; experience in areas like finance/payroll, marketing and communications, fundraising and sponsorship, project management, and grant writing.

Meetings are held monthly from February to June, with meetings held as needed in the summer months. Anyone interested in joining but would like to get a better feel for the board, meet the rest of the team, and find out more can attend their next meeting tomorrow, May 14th, at 7 p.m. in the community room at the R.M. of Weyburn office (1633 First Avenue NE, using the west side door).
