UPDATE on the wildfire in the RM of Piney
RM of Piney Emergency Operation Centre and Reeve, Wayne Anderson, released the following information at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, May 13.
Anderson confirmed that the RM will remain in a State of Local Emergency until conditions warrant lifting.
That PR 203 from Badger to Carrick will remain closed until further notice.
Evacuation orders have now been issued to residents living in the townsite of St. Labre. Anderson notes that crews are notifying residents.
This is the third townsite to be evacuated. The south side of Whitemouth Lake Road, near the townsite of Florze, was evacuated earlier this morning. As well, residents living in the townsite of Carrick.
Residents are to check in at the Woodridge Community Club at 69 Denis Street, Woodridge.

UPDATE May 13, 11:00 am
The office of the RM of Piney reported Tuesday morning that the State of Local Emergency order will remain in effect until conditions warrant lifting the order.
As of Tuesday morning, the wildfire is now covering 1,000 hectares and is labelled "out of control".
PR 203 from Badger to Carrick remains closed until further notice.
The cautionary evacuation order for the south side of Whitemouth Lake Road near the townsite of Florze, which runs from Rd 65E to Rd 68E is still in effect.
The RM notes that the wildfire is now 1 kilometre from Carrick and there is a possibility of the fire reaching the townsite, so they have issued a cautionary evacuation order for residents of Carrick, effective immediately.
Crews are out Tuesday morning notifying residents.

UPDATE May 13, 8:30 am
The office of the RM of Piney reports that the fire that started between Carrick/Badger on Saturday, May 10, has widened overnight and is now 1km east of Carrick.
They also note: "The smoke is very heavy along Whitemouth Lake Road, so we strongly advise no unnecessary travel along this road."
Manitoba Wildfire Services will be taking their helicopter out this morning to assess the fire from the air.
UPDATE May 12, 10:50 pm
The RM of Piney is currently working with Manitoba Emergency Management Organization (EMO), Manitoba Wildfire Service and the Office of the Fire Commissioner in coordinating firefighting efforts in the Carrick, Badger and Florze area.
The RM of Piney's State of Local Emergency order will remain in effect until conditions warrant lifting the order.
The order is in place to prompt action to prevent harm or damage to the safety, health or welfare of persons located within the boundaries of the RM and to prevent damage to property within those boundaries.
The RM of Piney has issued a cautionary evacuation order for the south side of Whitemouth Lake Road near the townsite of Florze that includes the area that runs from Rd 65E to Rd 68E.
Fire #EA057 is burning north of Badger and has crossed PR 203 towards Florze. The fire is now 4kms south of Whitemouth Lake Road.
PR 203 from Badger to Carrick is closed until further notice.
Monday, May 12, 6:00 pm
The Rural Municipality of Piney has declared a State of Local Emergency as of 6:00 pm Monday, May 12, due to Fire EA057 between Carrick and Badger.
The notice was posted on social media at 6:20 pm Monday evening.
Then, as of 7:20 pm Monday, the RM notified residents that PR 203 from Badger Road to Carrick Road is now closed.
The RM says that any more updates will be given to the public once more information is received.
The fire is located southeast of Woodridge and north of Piney, along the railroad tracks and PR 203.
Meanwhile, as of 2:30pm Tuesday, May 13, the province of Manitoba's "FireView 2025" page shows that Fire EA057 is out of control. The website also notes that the size of the fire is 1,000 hectares and was first detected on Saturday, May 10th.
