The Strathmore Youth Theatre Company has begun its production of James and the Giant Peach.

The play, based off the Roald Dahl book of the same name, tells the surreal story of an orphan boy who enters a magical giant peach. In the Strathmore production, James is played by Damien Fitzsimmons.

"We just loved the show from the moment we read the script and listened to the music," said Chelsea Hall, board president of the Youth Theatre Company. "We've been working tirelessly since then. We have a cast of 25 people ranging from ages 7 to 60, and they're all local to the Strathmore area."

The show was put together by musical director Greg Wheeler and creative director Lynn Elkin, with Hall also portraying Ladybug in the production.

"Our goal is to put on shows that kids want to be involved in and want to come see," added Hall. "James and the Giant Peach just seems like a great choice for a company that is focused on providing opportunities for young people."
