A new Extended Hours Primary Care Clinic will open this week in south  Winnipeg.

The province announced today the new clinic, which is open evenings and weekends, will open at the Victoria General Hospital on Thursday.

“This is the third extended hours clinic we’ve opened in Winnipeg, because we know everyone deserves to access primary care, often outside of regular hours,” said Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara. “These later hours will mean you can get care even when you can’t step away from work or school during the day. For folks who may not have a primary care physician, this clinic can be a place to go for checkups, prescriptions and all of your routine health-care services.”

The clinic will be staffed by a variety of health-care professionals, including physicians, registered nurses and primary care assistants.

They will have access to diagnostic imaging and medical laboratory services, allowing patients to be treated in a single visit.

The clinic officially opens its doors Thursday, May 15. It will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays and 1:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekends including statutory holidays.

Patients can book same-day appointments at the clinic online at https://medinav.ca/.

Walk-in services will also be available on a limited basis.

There are two other extended hours primary care clinics in Winnipeg at Grace Hospital and Concordia Hospital.
