A successful Humboldt Minor Basketball Association tournament entertained 21 different teams from across the province over Saturday and Sunday last weekend at Humboldt schools.
Kerri Archibald with the Association gives us the highlights.
“We had the girls playing on Saturday and the boys playing on Sunday. There were lots of fans out to see all the improvement that's happened over the season.”
The hard work that players and coaches have put in over the spring session was evident, as the increased real game experiences this season led to positive results.
“Practices are great for developing their skills, but the most fun is when they get to go out and play games,” Archibald says. “So, we actually attended three tournaments this year – one in Melfort, one in Porcupine Plain, and then the one we hosted this past weekend. So, the kids got to play more than last season when we attended only one tournament. The extra playing time has definitely helped with their skill development and the joy of basketball that they’re gaining.”
Around 140 participants took part in the K to 6 program with a sizeable number also in the 13 to 17-year-old group.
