Late on the night of May 12, a vehicle fire prompted a response from the Austin Fire Department at the intersection of Highway 1 eastbound and Road 63W in the Municipality of North Norfolk.
Firefighters received the page at 11:46 p.m., according to an incident report posted by the department.

Vehicle seen earlier with mechanical trouble
The report stated that the vehicle had been observed earlier the same day, parked in the same spot for several hours. Firefighters noted it appeared to be experiencing mechanical trouble.
“No occupants were with the vehicle at the time of the fire, and the cause is undetermined,” notes the Austin Fire Department.

RCMP remain on site
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police stayed on the scene after firefighters contained the blaze, monitoring the area until the vehicle was removed.

Fire response detailed
Details in the department's online report highlight the readiness of the responding crew and the quick deployment of firefighters.
“Alpha 1 arrived on the scene with five members, of which two were already fully geared up in full SCBA equipment, ready to fight the fire,” says the department.
As of now, there are no reported injuries, and the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
