Even with winter long gone, driver are still getting their winter tires taken off for all season or all weather tires through out may.
Tire shops have been booked up through out April and May says owner of Fountain Tire in Moose Jaw, John Laterveer.
"We still about two weeks for appointments booked ahead. I think it will will continue for the month of May. The thing with summer tires though, there's not an urgency to get them on like winter tires," stated Laterveer.
With the summer months comes a lot more travel with family vacations and getaways. This makes it important to also check the wear and tear of the tires you plan to put on your vehicle.
"You want to make sure you have your tires at a decent tread depth to put on, so most tire shops are going to look at that. There's wear bars on the tires itself, and if you're above the wear bars, you're safe to drive."
Another thing to note with no snow on the ground, there is a higher potential for potholes and objects to cause leaks or flat tires. When your tires are losing air, pump them up with air and get to the nearest tire shop.
Tire shops are not only occupied in the garage but also out on the road and in the fields.
"We also look after a lot of the the farmers in the community. So we're working and managing seasonal changeover for vehicles and also for all the equipment in the fields doing seeding," said Laterveer.
When it comes to spring tire changeover, drivers aren't in as much of a rush to get their other set of tires on. So tire shops will still be busy throughout the coming weeks.
