A boating incident on Lake Manitoba has now claimed two lives, after RCMP confirmed the recovery of a second body along the shoreline near Sandy Bay First Nation.
Yesterday, around 3:45 p.m., Amaranth RCMP responded to assist the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS), Sandy Bay Detachment, after the body of a 41-year-old man was located. He had been missing since May 8.

The man was one of two boaters stranded after their boat malfunctioned. Strong winds hampered rescue efforts, and the two men were last seen attempting to swim to shore without life jackets. Their boat had been launched from behind the community's water treatment plant earlier that day.
The body of the second man, a 22-year-old, was recovered the following morning near Halls Beach.
Central Plains RCMP continue to investigate the incident.
