The Winnipeg Jets will live to skate another day. Connor Hellebuyck made 22 saves to help Winnipeg avoid elimination with a 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of their second-round series. The Stars now lead the series 3-2 with Game 6 set for Saturday in Dallas.

Meanwhile, a goal with just under two minutes left helped the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Washington Capitals 3-1 and book their ticket to the Eastern Conference Final. Carolina will play the winner of the second-round series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers. Florida leads 3-2.

A win tonight could name the Medicine Hat Tigers as WHL champions. They currently lead the final three-games-to-one going into Game 5 against the Chiefs tonight in Spokane.

The SJHL champion Melfort Mustangs continue their Centennial Cup journey this afternoon, hitting the ice at 4 o’clock for Game 1 of their semi-final series against the Greater Sudbury Cubs.

The Toronto Blue Jays suffered an 8-3 loss at the hands of Tampa Bay last night. The Jays then open a weekend series against the Detroit Tigers this evening.

And, in local baseball, the Moose Jaw Canucks AAA 18U squad are in action against two Saskatoon teams today. First up are the Cubs at 11, then they take on the Diamondbacks this evening at 6:30.
