The Portage Regional Recreation Authority (PRRA) is welcoming new changes to its operations department.

Two key positions have recently been filled, bringing experienced leaders to help guide the organization as it continues to serve the community.

Travis Vandenbrand steps into Facility Operations Manager role

Travis Vandenbrand joins the PRRA as the new Facility Operations Manager, bringing a wealth of experience to the position. Vandenbrand previously served as the Parks and Recreation Facility Manager with the City of Selkirk, where he gained valuable experience in managing both facilities and aquatic settings.

"It's been going really well so far. I really enjoy the facility. There's great people that work here, existing staff, great team. It's been a seamless transition," Vandenbrand notes.

Donna Wettlaufer promoted to Assistant Facility Operations Manager

Donna Wettlaufer, who has been with the PRRA operations team for 15 years, has been promoted to Assistant Facility Operations Manager. Wettlaufer is well known to many in the community, especially for her long-standing involvement with Stride Place.

"She's made my transition easy," said Vandenbrand. "She's kind of my go to with any questions that I may have on a day-to-day basis. She's been able to really help me and she's a great leader as well. She understands the facility, understands the people that use the facility."

What’s next for the PRRA?

With new leadership now in place, the PRRA looks forward to a bright future. The facility's staff are excited for the upcoming season, and plans for the summer months are already underway.

One of the most anticipated events is the opening of Splash Island Waterpark, set for June 2.

Vandenbrand notes that the PRRA team is eager for the season to begin and looks forward to welcoming more visitors to the area.

Additionally, the PRRA will be temporarily closing the indoor pool for maintenance during the summer. More details on the closure will be provided in the near future.

The PRRA also oversees several other recreational spaces, including Beaver Stadium, Rotary Republic Park, and Delta Beach Campground. While some facilities are contracted out, the PRRA ensures they meet the needs of the community.
