In recognition of their outstanding leadership and dedication to public safety, Winkler Police Chief Ryan Hunt and Morden Police Chief Brad Neduzak were honoured this week at the Manitoba Legislature by Borderland MLA Carrie Hiebert.
As part of National Police Awareness Week, Hiebert invited both chiefs to the legislative chamber on Tuesday (May 13) to receive a special Private Member’s Statement in their honour. The moment served as a public expression of gratitude for the crucial, and often unseen, work the chiefs and their teams do to protect their communities.
“I was honoured to welcome Chief Ryan Hunt and Chief Brad Neduzak to the legislature,” said MLA Hiebert. “It was important for me to highlight their integrity, their outstanding leadership, and the incredible impact they’ve made in Winkler and Morden. They are true community heroes.”
Collaborative efforts celebrated
In her statement to the chamber, MLA Hiebert praised the chiefs’ recent joint operations targeting organized crime in the region. These collaborative efforts led to the arrest of over 20 individuals and the removal of dangerous drugs and illegal firearms from our streets.

“This kind of work goes largely unnoticed by the public,” MLA Hiebert added. “But it is essential to the safety and well-being of our families and communities. The leadership and cooperation between the Winkler and Morden Police Services is something we should all be proud of.”
Chief Neduzak was also recognized for a major milestone—40 years of service, which he will mark on June 4.
Both chiefs stayed for part of the afternoon session, including question period, and shared that they appreciated the recognition and found the experience meaningful.
Showing appreciation matters
MLA Hiebert concluded by encouraging the Pembina Valley to express appreciation for frontline workers: “Whether it’s our police officers, firefighters, or paramedics, we need to thank them more often. Their service matters deeply, and we are grateful.”
The tribute served as a powerful reminder of the importance of community policing and the value of acknowledging those who serve.
