Strathmore RCMP arrested two suspects who were allegedly involved in a string of thefts throughout the area.
According to police, they began investigating suspicious activity in April, which led to a search warrant being executed in Rockyford.
During the search, police recovered:
- 5 stolen ATVs
- 3 stolen firearms
- 2 stolen trailers
- A stolen car
- Various other stolen items
Police say the stolen items were linked to thefts in Caroline, Airdrie, Drumheller, Vulcan, Strathmore, and Calgary.
RCMP arrested 50-year-old Kevin De Laurier and 42-year-old Nicole Lewis, charging them with unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of property obtained by crime.
De Laurier was also charged with break and enter and failing to comply with a release order.
Lewis was released from custody with a court date set for May 20 in Calgary. De Laurier was kept in custody before his court date on May 22 in Airdrie.
RCMP also noticed that two of the stolen guns were taken during a break and enter connected to another theft investigation, showing that separate crime groups can be interconnected.
Strathmore RCMP were assisted by the Central and Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Units and the Emergency Response Team in the investigation.
