The scene has been cleared after a vehicle fire on the ramp from southbound Metis Trail to westbound Stoney Trail NE Sunday afternoon.

 

Alberta 511 first reported the fire at 1:48 p.m., warning drivers to expect congestion as emergency crews responded. The scene was cleared by 2:46 p.m.

This was one of several vehicle fires reported in the area over the past several days.

On Wednesday, May 14, fire crews extinguished a vehicle fire on northbound QEII near CrossIron Mills Mall, about one kilometre north of Stoney Trail NE. That was the second vehicle fire near Airdrie in less than 24 hours.

On Tuesday evening, a separate vehicle fire was also attended by Airdrie fire crews. No injuries were reported in either of the earlier incidents.

Authorities have not released additional details about the Sunday fire, including whether anyone was injured.
