A severe thunderstorm warning briefly issued Sunday afternoon for parts of Mountain View County near Olds and Didsbury has since been lifted.
Environment Canada issued the warning at 2:09 p.m. MDT, noting the potential for toonie-sized hail, strong wind gusts and heavy rain. By 2:45 p.m., the warning no longer appeared on the agency’s weather alerts website.
Airdrie was not under any alert, but the local forecast still includes a risk of severe thunderstorms.
According to Environment Canada, Airdrie can expect cloudy skies Sunday with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of a severe thunderstorm. Periods of rain are forecast for the evening, with a continued risk of thunderstorms and a low of 5 C.
The outlook for Victoria Day Monday includes mainly cloudy skies, a 60 per cent chance of afternoon showers, and a risk of a thunderstorm. The high is expected to reach 15 C.
