The 2025 Livestock Markets Association of Canada Convention was held in Brandon from May 8 to 11th. The Canadian Livestock Auctioneering Championships is held in conjunction with the Livestock Marketing Assocation of Canada (LMAC) event. The host market this year was Heartland Livestock Services in Virden with the auctioneering championships held on Friday, May 9th.
The event brought 39 of Canada’s top auctioneers from BC to Quebec auctioning off 5111 head of cattle, for total sales over $16.8 million.
"It was a very exciting event! It was a busy time but a really good time for the cattle industry," says Executive Administrator for the Manitoba Livestock Marketing Association Rick Wright. "This was probably the biggest one-day sale in recent Manitoba history. I can't speak for what happened in the old stockyards in downtown Winnipeg. But in the 45 years that I've been doing this that was the biggest one-day sale in Manitoba!"
The National winner of the auctioneering competition was Casey Lawes who sells out of the Provost Livestock Exchange and the Vermillion Livestock Exchange in Alberta.

Special recognitions included Jim Blackshaw from Heartland Livestock in Virden and Larry Schweitzer from Hamiota Feedlot were inducted into the LMAC Hall of Fame at LMAC 2025, for their contributions to the auction market and livestock marketing industry.
