Funeral Date: May 23, 2025 
John B. Sawatzky, 87, of Winnipeg passed away Sunday, May 18th at his home. He is survived by his wife Sara, 1 daughter, 2 sons, 3 sisters, 5 brothers and their families. He was predeceased by 2 sisters. 
A memorial service for John B. Sawatzky will be held Friday, May 23rd at 11am at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue. 
Donations may be made to Square One World Media or MCC.

On May 18, 2025, at 10:50 am, John B. Sawatzky, age 87 passed away peacefully at home. He had been battling cancer for the last year and the family had been supporting him every step of the way.

John was born in 1938 in Gnadenthal, Manitoba. He went to school in Gnadenthal, MCI Gretna and later Elim Bible School in Altona. He was a carpenter and home builder, and generally a DIYer in every way, and was passionate about serving others, giving many years of his life to missions with MCC and Janz Team, and charitable organizations. He loved singing in the choir. His sense of humor and his creativity will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his loving wife Sara, three children and their spouses, their grandchildren and one great-granddaughter: Son Daryl (Janet) and granddaughter Becky (Kyle) and great-granddaughter Noa June, granddaughter Jenny (Dan); Daughter Leanne (Vince) and granddaughter Stephanie (Jared), grandson Josh and granddaughter Jordyn; Son Perry (Alana); Siblings: Ben (Mary), Jake (Helen, deceased), George (Hilda, deceased), Louie (Nancy), Irene Strempler (Gerry), Victor (Anne), Emmy Wiebe (Ron), Hedy Wiebe (John, deceased), and their children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sisters, Erica Krempler (George Krempler and Archie Delorme, deceased) and Elsie Reimer (Bill).

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
