A collision between a semi-trailer and an SUV claimed the life of an 18-year-old Stonewall man yesterday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:10 p.m. on May 21 on Highway 8 at the intersection of Highway 67 in the RM of St. Andrews.
According to the RCMP, a semi-trailer traveling southbound on Highway 8 collided with an SUV as it crossed the intersection westbound.
Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene, however, the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. The 43-year-old driver of the semi-trailer was a Winnipeg resident who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Selkirk RCMP, along with the assistance of a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continues to investigate.
