Residents are advised that the City of Moose Jaw will be conducting routine bridge inspections and updating condition surveys over the next couple of weeks.

These inspections and surveys are part of the city’s regular maintenance program. Condition surveys are completed on an as-needed basis, while bridge inspections follow a three-year cycle. Both are routine, precautionary measures.

The work will take place at various bridges across the city and is expected to wrap up by May 29, weather permitting.

No bridges will be closed during the inspections. However, vehicle and pedestrian traffic may be restricted, and speed limits will be reduced to 30 km/h at inspection sites.

Contractors are expected to be on the 300 block of Manitoba Street East this week, from Third Avenue Northeast to Manitoba Expressway. Next week, crews are expected to work on the Ninth Avenue bridge and the First Avenue Southeast bridge.

In addition, two separate road patching projects began this week. Lane closures were implemented Thursday at Manitoba Street East and Third Avenue Northeast, as well as at High Street East and First Avenue Northeast, for road repairs.

That work is expected to be completed by May 24.

Motorists are reminded to obey all posted signage, reduce speeds in work zones, and maintain a safe distance from crew members for everyone’s safety.

Driving a vehicle on a temporarily closed road or removing signs or barricades may result in fines under the City of Moose Jaw’s Traffic Bylaw No. 5556.
