Star quarterback Zach Collaros will be sticking around Winnipeg a year longer after signing a one-year contract extension through the 2026 season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The 36-year-old is entering his sixth season with the blue and gold and has helped the team reach five straight Grey Cup finals, winning it all in 2019 and 2021.
Collaros was named the league's outstanding player twice, in 2021 and 2022. In 2024, he threw a career-best 4,336 yards with 17 touchdowns and tied a career high with 15 interceptions.
The Bombers have had success since acquiring Collaros at the 2019 trade deadline, with a record of 57-18 when he starts, including playoffs.
In the 158 career CFL games Collaros has played, his 32,935 career passing yards put him at 17th in CFL history. The next passing touchdown will be a big one, as it will be the 200th of his career.
He will miss the home-opener on June 12 against the B.C. Lions, while serving a one-game suspension for failing to respond to an off-season drug-test.
The Bombers kick off the pre-season on May 24 when the Saskatchewan Roughriders come to Princess Auto Stadium at 3 p.m.
