Life Culture's annual Walk for Life had a large turnout this year.
Free barbeque and bouncy castles invited people of all ages to KR Barkman Park.
As the event kicked off organizer Susan Penner explained the importance of positivity.
“It's such a positive event. I think this event is really good and encouraging and being positive. That's one of the things I really like about it, and we've got signs made and you know, just a lot of people who want to just walk and show their support.
After lunch, two speakers discussed empathy in, working with or personally experiencing difficult pregnancies. The speakers addressed the need to provide support for struggling mothers.
The walk for life addresses this issue by accepting donations of baby items, such as diapers and baby clothes alongside financial donations.
This walk is also known as a huge baby shower for struggling mothers.
Executive Director Susan Penner says that these items go to the people who need extra support.
“There's dozens of boxes of diapers and baby items, so that is so fantastic. That impacts the exact women who need the help and support, so I'm so encouraged that people are putting their beliefs into action and doing something tangible about it.”
Penner estimates that about one thousand people showed up to the walk on Sunday and says this was their biggest turnout ever.
