The Town of Strathmore celebrated Public Works Week by showcasing a variety of equipment in Kinsmen Park.

The event occurred May 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the second consecutive year and displayed tractors, skid steers, excavators, and heavy equipment for people to see, touch, and even honk the horns.

The town also gave away hard hats, temporary tattoos, water bottles, swag bags, and offered participants free doughnuts and coffee.

A coloring contest and naming of the water and plow truck also took place for the children involved.

"Kids are just drawn to it," said Donna McCallum, the operations manager who had a hand in putting this event together. "It might be the cartoons; it might just be the curiosity of watching it work."

Staff with STARS Air Ambulance and BluPlanet were also attending the event.
