The Strathmore Venom junior lacrosse team had a successful home opener last weekend.
On Friday, May 23, the Venom were at the Strathmore Family Centre taking on the Calgary Axemen.
"The crowd was awesome with a packed arena," said Travis Gauthier, vice president of Strathmore Lacrosse. "The team fed into the amazing energy from the crowd and played a really solid game."
By the end of the game, the Venom scored a 9-4 victory over the Axemen.
The Venom are returning to Strathmore on May 31 to top off the Redneck Rumble tournament in a match against the Calgary Wranglers.
"During the first intermission we will have the U9 teams and some U7 players play a mini game," added Gauthier. "We will also have a DJ, and we will be giving out some prizes throughout the night."
Tickets for the tournament cost $5 for adults, with children getting free admission.
