The City of Airdrie has installed its portable skate park on the east side of the city.

The park is located at the East Lake south parking lot, shared Jeff Hughes, who is the Operations Coordinator for the City of Airdrie Parks Department.

"It's the second year for our portable skate park. The first year was in the Ron Ebbeson Arena parking lot."

He shared that many residents enjoy having a second park.

"We have the in-ground, large skate park over on the west side (at Chinook Winds). Some residents like having one on the east side as well."

"It's pretty accessible through our path system, so lots of folks on scooters, bikes and skateboards should be able to get over and use it."

According to the city, rules for the park include:

  • Wear the gear! Protective helmets are mandatory, and elbow pads and knee pads are recommended
  • Do not use the skate park in icy or wet conditions
  • BMX riders - to help our facility last longer, park pegs are required
  • Respect the facility, respect others, be careful and HAVE FUN!

Hughes also shared that motorized items are not allowed.

The park will be at East Lake until early September.
