High River’s George Lane Memorial Park is getting a couple of new community art pieces.
During the May 26 regular meeting, High River Town Council approved funding for two new tree carving art pieces.
A total of $1,600 was allocated for materials and tools.
The chosen artist, Ron Schmidt’s initial design concept is to carve two faces that are slightly different into trees near the public washroom in the park. However, the final result could change during the carving process.
The carvings will be sealed with linseed oil and the art will weather naturally.
The project will be completed by the fall.
