Earlier this week, Airdrie played host to the Canadian Urban Transit Association's (CUTA) Prairie Chapter meeting.

According to the CUTA website, they help connect the public transit industry, advocate for investment and support from governments and facilitate conversations and connections to help transit professionals keep up with the latest.

At the Prairie Chapter meeting, members from four different provinces and territories attended, including Alberta, Northwest Territories, Manitoba and Yukon.

Billie-Jo Arnott, team lead for Airdrie transit, explained that the association is basically the voice for public transit to help municipalities keep their communities moving.

"Airdrie Transit participates in meetings with the prairie provinces and territories that focus on advancing the public transit industry."

While she is unable to share specific details about what was being said at the meeting, she was able to share the overall picture of the conversations.

"We shared insights, and we discussed a variety of different policies and transit procedures."

Arnott explained that being able to host a meeting like this is exciting, as they have been a member of the Prairie Chapter for a few years now.

"All I can say is that we are working towards improving public transit."

When asked about how Airdrie's public transit has been operating lately, she shared that it has been operating as usual.

"We're doing great, and looking for some improvements. The public should see some improvements coming later this fall."
