This year's W.H. Croxford High School Valedictorian is Oluwalademi Famuyiwa.
Famuyiwa was excited to garner the role and shared that it has been a dream of hers since grade 9.
"I think I cried a little bit, it felt so surreal."
She explained that to get the role, she had to provide a letter of recommendation and explain how they were involved within the school. After that, she had to present a speech and was graded on it.
"I was involved in track and field, leadership and band."
Famuyiwa shared what her message was to her classmates.
"I want them to be themselves, and not limit themselves based on what other people say. They should always put themselves first and chase their dreams."
When asked about what her favourite memory is from High School, it was being able to hang out with her friends.
"Us staying after school, late with my friends, trying to catch up on chemistry. There'd be some tears, some laughter, but overall, I'll probably remember that 10 years from now."
Famuyiwa plans to attend the University of Calgary to study nursing. She concluded by thanking those who helped her get to where she is today.
"I just want to thank my family and my best friend, AJ, and everybody else around me who helped guide me.
The Croxford High School graduation ceremony took place on May 23.
