The Kindersley Klippers made another move to boost the size of their blueline on Wednesday, announcing the signing of 2006 born defenseman Cowyn Loney for the upcoming season.

Loney spent last season playing in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League. The 18-year-old played 41 games with the Nanaimo Buccaneers where he had 16 points, before being traded to the Port Alberni Bombers where he played four regular season games, and then another ten in playoffs.
The native of Fort St. John has spent his entire career out west, making the jump to junior this past season in the VIJHL. Loney adjusted nicely as Klippers head coach Clayton Jardine noted the fact that the team's newest signing led all VIJHL players in plus/minus after the Christmas break, something they value highly.
“We are excited about adding Cowyn’s size, physicality, work ethic, and team-first attitude. Building a big, physical, and mobile defensive core is a priority for us, and Cowyn will fit in well with the group."
The Klippers are aiming to replace some serious size on the back end with the exit of captains Ethan Hilbig and Kyler Smith and are well on their way with the addition of Loney, and another towering defender Jordan Lafleur who was signed back on April 15.
In other team news, the Klippers are seeking an athletic therapist/equipment manager for the upcoming season. Find details for the job through the team website HERE.
