Hussar Summer Daze is back for another year, running from June 13 to 15 throughout the hamlet.

In the past, Summer Daze has seen more of a local crowd turn up. This year, they want to go bigger.

"It's predominantly local people from the surrounding communities, but more and more, we're finding that we're getting people from out of town, especially Strathmore, Chestermere, and Brooks, but from Calgary too, and that has a lot to do with us bringing out bands that people recognize from Calgary," explained Garrett Stokes, a volunteer with Hussar Summer Daze.

The event will include a parade, beer gardens, a kids' zone, musical performances, and much more.

An older version of the festival was started in the 1940s when it was a rodeo on the PBR circuit, which went away in the 1990s.

The parade will feature a float from the Calgary Stampede and will take place on Saturday morning.

"The parade is really neat this year. We've got this theme called Wheels Through Time, we've got a bunch of classic motorbikes coming out, and much more," explained Stokes.

Stokes has been involved in Summer Daze since he was a kid and explained why he loves it.

"I was just a kid at these events and always have been looking forward to Saturday night, that everything going on between the beer gardens and the band and you know. All the ball teams will be out there in their group, camping, having a time. That's the atmosphere that you get. In something like that, you can't really hold it up to anything else."
