The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) will assume operation of the Outlook Medical Clinic beginning June 1, following a new agreement signed with local municipalities.

The SHA said the transition will ensure continued access to integrated, team-based care for residents of Outlook and surrounding communities. Patients will see no disruption in service and will continue to be supported by their existing physician and care team.

The agreement was signed between the SHA and the Joint Health Committee, which represents the Town of Outlook, the Rural Municipality of Rudy and the RM of Fertile Valley.

“By continuing to prioritize high-quality, team-based care and supporting the dedicated health-care staff, this transition will enhance access to integrated primary health care in our community and strengthen our ongoing partnership with local stakeholders,” said Erin Hess, director of primary health care with the SHA.

The SHA said its operation of the clinic will help support physician recruitment and retention, while fostering a collaborative environment for health-care providers.

The authority also thanked the three municipalities for their years of joint operation of the clinic, and said it looks forward to continued collaboration in the delivery of health care.

The transition comes as part of the SHA’s efforts to stabilize and strengthen rural health services across the province.
