Over 100 Grade 4 students visited the Community Operation Centre.
For Public Works Week, classes from Our Lady of Wisdom School and Prairie Waters Elementary explored various services in the Chestermere centre on Monday (May 26).
The event returned for a second time to educate children on the public services that keep the city moving.
"The teachers would agree that it is incredibly important," wrote community engagement manager Steven Burness.

"It is also valuable for our young generations to learn what our public service crews do for our city and how a municipality ensures it is clean and maintained for its residents," he added, hoping to expand on the event next year.
Students partook in greenhouse activities, toured in wagons around the facility, and learned about specific services.
"We hope that the information these kids learned will be shared with their families, and hopefully everyone in our city can help in keeping it clean, beautiful, and well taken care of," reflected Burness.
The Grade 4 classes participated in the field trip as a part of the curriculum on the environment.
