The City of Dawson Creek is moving forward with the Grandview Neighbourhood Concept Plan, a strategic initiative aimed at revitalizing the 1100 95 Avenue site, formerly home to the Grandview School and Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre. Approved by City Council on July 15, 2024, this long-term planning document will guide future development decisions for the area, focusing on creating a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive community space that reflects the needs and aspirations of Dawson Creek residents.
The planning process is structured in two phases: Envision and Engage. During the Envision phase, staff collaborated with consultants to conduct background research and develop a comprehensive engagement plan. The Engage phase commenced with an open house held on November 25, 2024, at École Frank Ross Elementary School, providing residents an opportunity to discuss urban design, mobility, and public space improvements. An online survey followed to capture input from those unable to attend the in-person session.
The first draft of the Neighbourhood Concept Plan was created and presented to Council at the May 20, 2025 meeting. View the draft plan online. Next steps include a second round of public engagement through a survey. Residents are encouraged to participate in the survey before 4:30pm, Friday, June 27, 2025 to ensure their voices are heard in shaping the future of the Grandview area.
The survey can be found on the City of Dawson Creek website at dawsoncreek.ca/grandviewncp or at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CLXPWQ2.
