The RCMP says it will enforce temporary airspace restrictions over Calgary and Kananaskis during the G7 Leaders’ Summit in June.

In a May 30 news release, the RCMP confirmed a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) will be in effect from 6 a.m. on June 14 to 11:59 p.m. on June 17.

The RCMP said it is coordinating with “G7 Summit aviation partners including Transport Canada, the Canadian Armed Forces and NAV CANADA” as part of the 2025 G7 Integrated Safety Security Group.

According to the RCMP, two restricted airspace zones will be established.

CYR 292 will be centered on Kananaskis Village (N50°55'22" W115°08'37") with a 30-nautical-mile radius, excluding the Calgary/Springbank Airport control zone. CYAs 226 and 227 will not be active.

CYR 293 will be centered on Calgary International Airport (N51°07'21.41" W114°00'48.05") with a 20-nautical-mile radius. It will include the Calgary/Springbank Airport control zone but exclude CYR 292. CYA 228 will not be active.

The restricted airspace will allow for security operations and emergency services for authorized aircraft only. There will be no unauthorized flights in the area on those dates.

The RCMP said the specific times and restrictions will be specified by NOTAM closer to the summit.

“The safety and security of all world leaders attending the G7 Summit in Kananaskis and residents and visitors in the surrounding areas continue to be the top priority,” the RCMP stated.
