A movie filmed in Didsbury went home with several different awards from the Canadian Screen Awards over the weekend.
The Canadian Screen Awards celebrate achievements in Canadian film, television, and digital media.
Wynonna Earp Vengeance won the following awards, according to I.A.T.S.E Local 212:
- Best TV Movie
- Best Lead Performer (Melanie Scrofano)
- Best Writing (Emily Andras)
- Best Production Design or Art Direction, Fiction (Trevor Smith, Joel Tobman, Amber Humphries)
- Best Original Music, Drama
- Best VFX
- Best Stunt Coordination
The movie was also nominated for "Best Sound Fiction" and "Best Supporting Performer".
According to IMDB, in the show, "Wynonna Earp is coming home to battle her greatest foe yet: a psychotic seductress hellbent on revenge against her...and everyone she loves."
Multiple scenes of the movie were shot north of Airdrie in Didsbury. Numerous road closures took place for filming.
Some of the stars in the show include Tim Rozon, Melanie Scrofano and Katherine Barrell. Emily Andras is the creator.
