Wheatland Elementary School now has 3D printers.

The school was awarded funding from the 2025 East Strathmore Solar Project and Wheatland County to purchase the new technology.

The printers will provide more STEAM projects for the students through software like Tinkercad.

One of the projects the students participated in this year was designing personal keychains.

"They designed it themselves, and then we used a 3D printer from the school division that we borrowed to use to try to print them. The kids loved it. They absolutely thought it was amazing and a lot of them wanted to do more," vice principal Megan Vesely said, explaining the inspiration for applying for the grant.

"The other idea is that teachers have a space to go and do these different activities with their kiddos," Vesely added.

The school will have an instructor come once a week and coach the students and teachers on how to use the 3D printers next year.

Classrooms also received Edison Robots and Bee-Bots for the Kindergarten STEAM program.

This initiative is designed to promote experimental learning, creative thinking, and ingenuity.
