A very much welcomed round of showers wound through the region late Monday morning into mid-afternoon. The last accumulating rainfall across much of the area came May 20th, and that was only a few millimeters in most cases.
"As a cold front swept through across the province, showers developed along it," explained CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "It's also interesting to note temperatures late Monday afternoon were less than half what they were are the same time Sunday. The Winkler, Morden and Altona region was around 31 to 33 degrees between 5pm and 6pm Sunday. On Monday, those same areas were between 13 and 15 degrees."

According to Sumner, the remainder of the first week of June will be seasonal with a good amount of sunshine. Averages to start the month are 22 degrees for daytime highs and 9 degrees overnight.
"Generally speaking, it's looking like a quiet week weather wise across Southern Manitoba, as west to east flow aloft and surface high pressure keeps temperatures around average or slightly above," he said. "Outside of a possible shower Tuesday afternoon, or thunderstorm, there's little precipitation in the forecast until the forecast models show signals for showers returning potentially some time Saturday or Sunday."
