Kennedy Senior Services is running a bottle drive for Seniors Week.

The organization is raising funds to donate to Hope Bridges Society (HBS) throughout the month of June. Already running since mid-May, the organization's goal is to raise $500. Bottles are picked up or dropped off throughout the Strathmore area from donators who contact the group.

"Seniors Week is huge for us. Seniors hold a special place in my heart," said Desiree Kennedy, owner of the operation, which is partnering with HBS for the first time to encourage seniors to get out and participate in the community.

The organization helps seniors 55-years-old and above by offering homecare, transport with assistance, non-medical palliative care, respite care, and companionship care services.

"I think it's important to support the local nonprofits that are doing things specifically for seniors," Kennedy added, hoping to support the music, art, and adaptive yoga services HBS provides.

The senior support group is looking to expand and provide volunteer opportunities in the future for senior companionship roles.
