Despite being home to the Calgary Flames, there are a few Edmonton Oilers fan in the area - and even a couple of super fans.

One of those fans is Ron Anderson, who has been backing the Oilers since the franchise entered the NHL in the 1972-73 season.

"I had season tickets back in the time they were winning all their Stanley Cups," said Anderson. "After you see the greatness of Gretzky and you're cheering for him then, it's hard to turn to anybody else."

Although he last attended an Oilers game in person two years ago, Anderson and his wife's 42nd wedding anniversary falls on June 4, the same day that the Oilers begin their championship series against the Florida Panthers.

"I think the Oilers have improved the team from last year, and I bet Florida has too," added Anderson. "It'll be a battle. I think we're looking at another seven-gamer."

To show his pride for the team, Anderson will frequently wear his Oilers jersey and hat, a fashion choice that has led to him to receiving playful banter in public.

"Anybody who knows me, I don't keep it a secret. I'm an Oilers fan."

Last year the Panthers defeated the Oilers in game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals. This year, Anderson believes the Oilers will take home the cup, being the first Canadian team to do so in 32 years.
