On Monday, the Airdrie Food Bank (AFD) announced Meghan West will be the new Executive Director come September 1.
AFD shared that West has been a dedicated leader at the Airdrie Food Bank since 2016.
"Previously serving as Programs Manager, where she oversaw key community initiatives, budget management, and volunteer development. Her leadership in program development and funding management has been instrumental in securing and administering grant funding to support critical food programs in Airdrie."
She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Guelph and a Master of Education in Educational Psychology and Leadership Studies from the University of Victoria.
"Her academic expertise in nutrition, leadership, and community-focused education has shaped her approach to driving impactful food security programs and fostering sustainable partnerships," shared the AFD.
"I've been fortunate to work alongside Lori for a number of years and learn from her passion and her leadership and her commitment to the community," shared West.
She explained the reason she wanted to garner the role was because it was a professional learning opportunity and a personal opportunity to continue doing the work that she really cares about.
"We're very fortunate to be very well supported here at the food bank. I just appreciate so much of the work that our community partners do to support our clients and our community as a whole."
The board and staff are confident that her leadership and vision will further strengthen the organization’s mission to support food security and empower the community.
