A multi-day Craft/Trade/Bake Sale is being held this weekend in support of Moose Jaw’s South-Central Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) at the Town ‘n’ Country Mall.

This trade show will be ECIP’s first major fundraiser of the fiscal year. The funds raised are going toward replacing the nearly 15-year-old work vehicle used by the ECIP team to deliver programming to families within a service area encompassing Moose Jaw and surrounding communities.

Forty-five vendors are already set to attend, with more on the way, according to organizer Gail Hoffos, offering an opportunity to do some great holiday shopping for Father’s Day, and support a good local cause.

“I have Scorpion Woodworks, that makes some awesome hockey signs and everything else, and he does amazing work. Gene’s Woodwork birdhouses, if that’s your thing. NipNap’s Fishing Tackle, he brings a huge display every time,” said Hoffos, giving a sneak peek at some of the vendors.

“There’s just so many things, and then there’s stuff for women, of course, but there’s actually quite a few things for men.”

Hoffos explained that the charity market is not just a shopping opportunity, alongside the wide assortment of vendors will be a concession and even a chance to win some prizes.

“All the vendors donate an item to the penny parade, so you never know what you’re going to get. We usually put two or three items together and you can win your father something for Father’s Day as well,” said Hoffos.

“For five dollars you get 10 tickets. It’s a great deal. Who doesn’t have five bucks nowadays for charity and to win a prize?”

The charity market is being held at the Town ‘n’ Country Mall (near the Monkey Bars Indoor Playcentre). Day one of the event gets underway on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; it will then pick up the next day, Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is handled on a by-donation basis, and while cash is preferred, Hoffos says there are other ways to show your support.

“Contribute what you want. We prefer cash, but ECIP does have Square. If you want to (pay with tap) you can donate a dollar, you can donate 20 dollars, it all goes to a good cause.”

Hoffos added that it isn’t too late to sign up as a vendor, as there are up to 20 spots still left to be filled. Interested parties can register by emailing her at craftsalegail@gmail.com
