The Chestermere Annual Parade of Garage Sales took place in the city over the weekend.
Around 200 homes took part in the city-wide event, with around 1,000 residents attending.
One of the garage sales was made to raise funds for Cam Kenney, with the funds being used to support him after a kidney transplant.
"I have Type 1 diabetes and celiac disease, and because of having both, it breaks up my kidney function," said Kenney. "I have swelling in my legs all the time, and it can take days for food to digest."
Despite the struggle, Kenney is still working hard as he prepares for his transplant. However, he doesn't know when the transplant will come.
"I have to find people to start going in and getting tested to make sure that their kidneys are strong enough to support me," added Kenney. "They go in and make sure their kidneys and blood are compatible."
Kenney also thanked his sister and brother-in-law for putting on the garage sale, saying that the couple have helped him come out of his shell.
"It just shows how important family is, and there are people out there willing to help. It's just a matter of finding them."
Kenney hopes to spread awareness towards kidney disease and the stresses that come along with it.
