Ready to show off your grilling skills? The CMX Brisket Cook-off is back for another year to kick off the summer and bring the community together!
CMX Customer Appreciation Day kicks off again this Saturday, June 7th!
While the Brisket Cook-off teams manage the grills, visitors can enjoy in-store sales, bouncy castles for the kids, music, and a burger or hot dog fresh off the barbecue with chips and pop for just $5.
Like last year, all proceeds earned from this event will go towards the Feed Swift Current Initiative, a fund used to buy groceries for the Salvation Army Food Pantry.
For General Manager Ken Erickson, this Customer Appreciation Day isn’t just about saying thank you to his customers, but about thanking the community as a whole.
"We all have family here. We all have friends here. This city, and our rural community, are very important to us. We want to celebrate our customers, of course, but also our city in general, all the companies that support us when we're doing events like this, and everybody that's there for us when we need them," said Erickson.
Last year’s Customer Appreciation Day was a huge success, with around 300 guests raising just under $2,000 for Feed Swift Current.
“I was so proud of our city because a lot of people, new faces that we'd never seen, came in to support the cause and just see what was going on,” said Erickson.
Erickson and the CMX team look forward to seeing the community again, and encourage everyone – customers, visitors, and other business owners – to stop by, even if it’s just for a taste of the delicious briskets.
The brisket cook-off is open to everyone, with room for 8 teams to compete. The briskets will be supplied, but everything else is up to the grill-masters!
“They can cook however they want, they can start the day before, bring whatever grill they prefer,” said Erickson. “But the idea is to is to have people come out and get their teams sponsored by friends and family. We'll have prizes for the team that raises the most sponsorship dollars for the Feed Swift Current Initiative, too. Separate prizes will also be available for the winners of the Brisket Cook-off, of course.”
In store, customers can take advantage of 10% the entire spice and rub section, some special deals on smokers, and door prizes all day long. Representatives from Camp Chef, Yoder, and Motley Q. will also be on site to check out the action!
